Although the cricket world cup begins today, but there is no opening ceremony.
According to a report by the Times of India (TOI), it has been confirmed that there were no plans for an opening ceremony preceding the Cricket World Cup matches.
“There was never an opening ceremony planned for the World Cup. I can confirm that,” TOI said citing a source with knowledge of the matter.
While there won’t be an opening ceremony, the BCCI did organise Captains’ Day on the eve of the England vs. New Zealand opener.
During this event, all 10 team captains were engaged in discussions led by former India head coach Ravi Shastri and former England captain Eoin Morgan.
